Savings in 2014

One of my goals this year is to save money. Save a little or save a lot, it doesn't matter I just want to save something for a  rainy day. Last year my rainy day was the dog getting sick. That cost about $1700. In 2014 I plan on saving through my 401k and also some cash at home. I'm trying this weekly challenge and so far I'm doing good with it. Towards the end the weeks get a little more expensive so I may jump around and save what I can every week. I may also try the $5 plan. Every time I come into possession of a $5 bill you save it an an envelope. Every month I'll give an update of how my savings is going.

Patience on a saturday afternoon...

*** I wrote the below post on Saturday, and now reading it again it makes me laugh. Yes it aggravated me to death that I was waiting for a train that would never come but at least I was able to keep dry....

I have found that sometimes the smallest of things push me over the edge. For example today A checked the train schedule and told me to be at the train by 4:05. However for some reason something told me to check the time again and the train doesn't get here until 5:57. OMG I saw stars. I wanted to throw something.  So here I am waiting to get picked up. Lucky me. Maybe if I was more patient I wouldn't care as much. So I will relax and think happy thoughts.

One Little Word

This is my word for this year... sort of like my motto.  I have lots of things that need to be accomplished this year

Life

As life would have it, my tire blew up last night.  I had a pretty relaxing day at work and as I'm driving home afterwards I heard a nice little boom and the car was driving all sorts of funny. The tire looked like I had broken up wih Edward Scissor hands and he slashed the tire ( Ikinda wish I would've snapped a photo of it). Luckily, Midas was near by and they replaced my tire... for free!!! Weird, crazy and unexpected since I never thought anyone did anything for free anymore.

Resolutions vs Goals

My Goals for 2014

To me the word resolution stands for something that will not get done. Basically a list of crap that I will promise myself I will work on but won't ever look at again that year. So in 2014 I decided to be different and a bit more realistic (in Laura’s world)... Trust me I always set some crazy goals in hopes that I will get to cross them off my list.

You may be looking at your reading device rather quizzically and asking wtf (sorry if you get offended by my language...but I'm not that sorry) is the difference between a GOAL and a RESOLUTION. Well grab a cup of coffee (I like mine black with 2 sugars) and let me explain.

I can work on my goals at any pace I want. I don't need to feel like I’m in this huge race for who accomplishes their goals the fastest. I hate when people compare my goals to theirs.  Dude, we’re 2 different people, I’m here to support you with yours but don’t try to down play the awesomeness of mine.

Resolutions sound like there's something wrong and needs fixing, where a goal is more of bettering the greatness that is already there. And let me tell you I am great.  Not in the vain sense of the word but more in the “this is exactly where I want to be right now” sense of the word.

So let’s talk about some of my goals…Scrapbooking… what can I say? I used to love it… A LOT… then life happened and I stopped completely.  My small, yet achievable goal is to get started again.  I decided to try out the “Project Life” layouts as they appear to be the easiest.  All I need to do is take pictures every day… or almost every day.

Another one of my goals is to fall in love with myself… Might sound vain, cocky, ostentatious, narcissistic- pick a word, I don’t care.  We all have flaws, my goal is to love all of mine and even if I want to correct a flaw I need to still be grateful for what I have.  I guess you can say I need to look at the positive side of things.

My other goals I will be discussing in greater detail at another time as they are too lenghty to discuss all in 1 post.

This picture pretty much sums up my New Years... It was fun and special.
